The Asian market for liquid glucose is set to experience a price increase in April 2025, driven by tighter supply conditions and sustained demand from key sectors, including food and beverage, confectionery, and pharmaceuticals.

In April 2025, India’s business growth surged to an eight-month high, fueled by strong demand, particularly from increased foreign orders for manufactured goods. As a consequence, businesses have been passing on higher production expenses to the consumer which pushes prices higher, especially among manufacturers.  This surge in business activity is expected to boost demand for liquid glucose, particularly in India’s food and beverage sectors, thereby driving prices upward. The continued positive sentiment and optimism among producers will likely fuel increased production and exports, including liquid glucose, which will tighten supply in the region.

At the same time, prices for maize—the primary raw material for producing liquid glucose—have remained high throughout early 2025. Strong demand from poultry, dairy and aquaculture industries have continued to sustain high corn prices, higher input costs for liquid glucose makers. These higher maize rates are another major driver in the upward trend of liquid glucose price in April.

With the arrival of summer, seasonal demand for liquid glucose is expected to rise. As temperatures rise across much of Asia, there is typically a spike in demand for cooling beverages. Liquid glucose is vital in producing soft drinks, particularly those with higher sugar content, and fruit juices, which are popular in warmer weather. This seasonal consumption increase will likely drive up demand for liquid glucose, a crucial ingredient for sweetness and texture.

In addition, ice cream and frozen dessert manufacturers are getting ready to face the seasonal demand which is caused by hotter temperatures. The ice-cream industry, specifically, is one of the leading consumer of liquid glucose since it contributes to the texture, creaminess and sweetness of the frozen products.

As a result of this expected surge in seasonal demand, buyers in Indonesia and Vietnam are expected to increase their procurement activities in April. Suppliers report that domestic inventories in major Asian markets remain tight, with replenishment slow due to strong export flows and sustained internal demand. This supply tightness is likely to push prices of liquid glucose higher as summer approaches.

According to ChemAnalyst’s analysis, the price of liquid glucose is expected to remain stable through the summer months, driven by growing seasonal demand from the beverage, confectionery, and ice cream industries. As prices rise, industry players are likely to increase their purchasing activity to secure supplies early and avoid potential price hikes as demand intensifies and supply stays constrained.
