ProLogium, a leading Taiwanese technology company specializing in advanced batteries, has selected Arkema as a pivotal development and supply partner in preparation for the inauguration of its gigafactory in France.

Arkema and ProLogium convened in Paris on May 14th for a Letter of Intent (LOI) exchange ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their partnership initiated in 2010. This collaboration is set to intensify, particularly with ProLogium's plans to establish an advanced R&D laboratory in France, coinciding with the location of Arkema's Battery Center of Excellence. This development underscores Arkema's commitment to collaborating with pioneers in next-generation batteries, leveraging its extensive range of technologies to foster the creation of batteries that are not only more efficient and safer but also more sustainable.

In Taiwan, ProLogium unveiled its inaugural giga-level demonstration line, a facility capable of manufacturing up to 2 gigawatt hours of Lithium Ceramic Batteries, sufficient for outfitting approximately 26,000 cars annually. Their subsequent endeavor involves constructing a gigafactory in Dunkirk, France, with the capacity to supply over 500,000 cars per year.

As an initiative within the "France 2030" plan, the French government has committed to offering ProLogium a subsidy. Arkema, a prominent supplier of PVDF used in advanced lithium-ion batteries, operates manufacturing sites in France, the USA, and China. The partnership will initially concentrate on Kynar® PVDF grades and cutting-edge high-performance materials customized for ProLogium's forthcoming Lithium Ceramic Batteries. Additionally, there are intentions to utilize Arkema's broad range of inside-the-cell technologies.

Vincent Yang, founder and CEO of ProLogium, emphasized the significance of Arkema as a strategic ally in our pursuit of establishing a localized value chain. He highlighted Arkema's pivotal role in surmounting current technological hurdles and driving innovations, ultimately bringing about a fundamental shift in cell structure and process design. Yang underscored the importance of Arkema's unparalleled portfolio of battery material solutions and their expansive global innovation and manufacturing prowess. These elements are crucial in our endeavor to create novel battery models that seamlessly integrate performance, cost-effectiveness, and resource circulation.

We are thrilled to partner with ProLogium in the development of cutting-edge Lithium Ceramic Battery solutions. Arkema is enthusiastic about its pivotal role in this technological advancement. We take great pride in providing a comprehensive range of advanced materials alongside our fluoropolymers." Guillaume de Crevoisier, Arkema's Global General Manager for Kynar® Fluoropolymers, expressed his sentiments.

Alongside the recent investments in two start-ups, Tiamat and Proionic, this collaboration will reinforce Arkema's standing as a prominent provider of advanced solutions for next-generation batteries.
