Aptar Boosts Manufacturing Capabilities with New Facility in Mumbai

Aptar Pharma, a worldwide frontrunner in the provision of drug delivery systems, services, and active material science solutions, has just unveiled its latest manufacturing facility, Aptar Mumbai. This development is aimed at enhancing production capabilities in South East Asia, reflecting the company's commitment to meeting the growing manufacturing demands in the region.

The grand opening ceremony took place on December 1, 2023, signifying a major milestone with the formal unveiling of the Aptar Mumbai production facility located at Palava Industrial and Logistics Park in Taloja, Mumbai. The event was marked by the presence of Aptar's Executive Committee and Aptar Pharma's Global Leadership Team, along with over 100 key customers and employees from Mumbai and Hyderabad sites. The event featured symbolic activities such as a ribbon-cutting and tree-planting ceremony, celebrating this significant step in Aptar Pharma's growth journey.

Initially commencing operations in 2012, Aptar Mumbai primarily focused on the assembly and supply of metered dose valves and pumps. However, with the recent expansion, the facility is now well-equipped to provide more innovative product solutions and cater to the escalating manufacturing needs of pharmaceutical customers in South East Asia.

Assembly operations have already commenced at the cutting-edge 7,000 m2 site in Aptar Mumbai. The facility has achieved ISO 15378 certification, ensuring it adheres to rigorous quality standards.

This expansion initiative, which began in early 2022, aligns seamlessly with Aptar's localization strategy, responding directly to the increasing customer demands in the region. Sanjay Kapote, President, India & Head, Pharma – SEA, underscored that the new Mumbai site not only offers expanded space for assembly operations but also supports Aptar Pharma's vision by introducing technologies specifically designed for the Asian market.

Alex Theodorakis, President of Aptar Pharma Prescription, reflected on over a decade of success in India, positioning the country as a crucial component in the pharmaceutical ecosystem and ushering in a new era of growth in the region.

In a virtual address, Xiangwei Gong, President of Aptar Asia, extended her heartfelt congratulations to both the global and local Aptar Pharma teams for their dedicated efforts in completing the Mumbai facility in less than two years.
