Anson Resources (ASN) has taken significant strides in its lithium production operations at the demonstration plant located in Florida. This expansion is in response to the rising demand from potential offtake partners keen to secure a supply of high-quality lithium.
The demonstration plant is currently engaged in the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate, sourcing its raw materials from brines originating from Anson's Paradox project in southeastern Utah, USA. This achievement has been made possible by utilizing the flowsheet provided by Anson's direct lithium extraction (DLE) partner, Sunresin.
The escalation in production capacity represents a pivotal milestone for the company. It not only facilitates the fulfillment of sample requests from potential end-users but also plays a crucial role in the product supplier qualification process.
These samples of lithium carbonate are being made available to vehicle manufacturers and their partners in cathode active material (CAM) development. The objective is to establish enduring offtake agreements that will ensure a steady and consistent supply of lithium carbonate, a critical component in the production of lithium-ion batteries.
Bruce Richardson, the Executive Chair and CEO of ASN, expressed his enthusiasm about the progress made. He emphasized the commercial viability of the DLE technology employed in the Paradox lithium project, stating, "The DLE technology Anson has selected for the Paradox lithium project has been proven commercially, and now we are in the process of providing battery-grade lithium carbonate samples to large vehicle manufacturers and their CAMs in the USA as part of a structured supply qualification process in order to qualify as a supplier to these end-users."
In the dynamic landscape of lithium supply, different quantities of samples are required by various entities involved in the supply qualification process. Anson Resources remains committed to scaling up production at the demonstration plant to meet this growing demand.
Anson Resources has announced its intent to continue this production ramp-up, with a goal to reach an impressive annual production capacity of 1 tonne by the end of the current year. This level of production will be sufficient to fulfill the requirements for stages one and two of the supply qualification process for potential offtake partners.
In summary, Anson Resources has embarked on a significant expansion of lithium carbonate production at its demonstration plant in Florida. This strategic move is driven by the increasing demand from potential offtake partners, including vehicle manufacturers and CAM developers, who are crucial players in the burgeoning electric vehicle industry. By scaling up production and providing high-quality samples, Anson Resources aims to establish itself as a trusted supplier in the lithium market and secure long-term partnerships with key stakeholders in the electric vehicle supply chain.
