This strategic expansion is geared towards enhancing long-term competitiveness.
Within the Vlotho-Exter facility, 185 dedicated employees are engaged in the production of various items, including PET bottles and preforms catering to nearby mineral water companies. Notably, these products are crafted utilizing PET recyclates sourced from ALPLA's internal recycling plant in Bad Salzuflen, located just a few kilometers away. He positions Vlotho-Exter as a pivotal competence and production center within the broader ALPLA Group, one that is intentionally being fortified and expanded in alignment with the company's overarching global sustainability strategy. ALPLA's CEO, Philipp Lehner, echoes this sentiment by acknowledging the future prospects of plastic packaging, while also acknowledging the existing challenges that demand earnest attention. He reiterates ALPLA's proactive stance towards addressing these issues, emphasizing the pursuit of elevated standards in packaging reduction, reuse, and recycling.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including members of the German Bundestag, the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as local authorities such as Herford District Administrator Jürgen Müller and Vlotho Mayor Rocco Wilken.
Georg Pescher expresses satisfaction with the acknowledgment of their endeavors as a reputable employer, training facilitator, and economic contributor in the region, alongside their leadership role in transitioning towards a circular economy. He further acknowledges the state parliament's initiative to position North Rhine-Westphalia as a frontrunner in circular economy practices, affirming ALPLA's readiness to lend its expertise and insights to support the project's successful execution.
