ALPLA is strengthening its presence in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region with the opening of a second facility in Thailand. Located in Chachoengsao, near Bangkok, the state-of-the-art plant spans 24,000 square meters and integrates all production technologies, a technical center, and STUDIOa—a one-stop-shop for packaging design. This expansion enhances ALPLA’s capacity, broadens its portfolio, and reinforces its commitment to delivering safe, affordable, and sustainable plastic packaging solutions across various industries and markets.
After a year of construction, the global packaging and recycling specialist has officially inaugurated its new facility. In addition to housing production and administration, the Chachoengsao site serves as Thailand’s headquarters, replacing the previous facility in Prachinburi. The new location introduces advanced injection molding (IM) and one-step injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) technologies, significantly boosting production capabilities in the country.
"Thailand has been a cornerstone of our Southeast Asian expansion for over 20 years, and it remains vital to our growth strategy today. Our flagship plant in Chachoengsao meets all customer needs while opening new market opportunities," stated ALPLA CEO Philipp Lehner. The grand opening on February 11, 2025, welcomed approximately 200 distinguished guests, including Pongpol Yodmuangcharoen (Secretary to the Minister of Industry), Austrian Ambassador Wilhelm Donko, and Michael Friedl from the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
Capacity Growth and Portfolio Expansion
At the new facility, ALPLA will manufacture high-quality plastic bottles, preforms, closures, and injection-molded components using all core technologies. A key focus is on the newly introduced ISBM and IM technologies. "Our all-in-one approach strengthens our position as a leading provider of safe, cost-effective, and sustainable plastic packaging solutions. Chachoengsao combines cutting-edge technology, premium quality, and exceptional customer service under one roof. This will help us expand our market share and enter new segments," said Roland Wallner, ALPLA Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region.
All production lines have been operational since early 2025, employing over 190 skilled workers. The Chachoengsao plant offers strategic advantages, including proximity to customers and strong logistical connectivity within the Bangkok metropolitan area. Meanwhile, ALPLA’s original Prachinburi facility will focus exclusively on extrusion blow molding (EBM).
Strengthening Thailand’s Circular Economy
In 2022, ALPLA consolidated its operations in Southeast Asia and China to form the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. That same year, the company entered the recycling sector through a joint venture with Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical. Their advanced recycling plant, ENVICCO, located in Rayong province, produces 30,000 tonnes of food-grade recycled PET (rPET) and 15,000 tonnes of recycled HDPE (rHDPE) annually, supporting sustainable plastics production.
"In Thailand, we are expanding alongside our customers. With two high-performance production plants and a recycling facility, we are ensuring a long-term supply of sustainable packaging solutions and reinforcing the national circular economy," said Daniel Qiu, ALPLA General Manager Thailand. The introduction of STUDIOa and the technical center further enhances ALPLA’s capabilities, enabling innovative, lightweight, and recyclable packaging designs that add value and sustainability to its products.
