In the global market, the price of Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) experienced a notable decrease by the end of June in the US and Europe, contrasting with stable prices in the Asian market. This divergence in Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) prices reflects regional supply-demand imbalances. While North American and European markets are witnessing reduced costs due to ample supply and stable production rates, Asian markets are grappling with heightened demand and limited supply, driving prices upward. This regional disparity, influenced by varying production rates, feedstock availability, and economic conditions, highlights the complex interplay of global economic factors and localized market conditions affecting Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) pricing trends.
As of the end of June, the US market saw a notable decline in the price of Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine). This occurred despite a 2.64% rise in methanol prices and an 11.02% decrease in ammonia prices in the feedstock market. The downstream pharmaceutical sector showed robust demand, reflected by a 3.6% increase in the Dow Jones Pharmaceuticals (DJUSPR) index for June. However, the agrochemical sector continued to underperform. Given the current market dynamics, suppliers are dealing with ample inventories, resulting in a lack of significant bidding activities for additional stock accumulation.
At the end of June, Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) prices declined in the German market. This sluggishness in the price trend occurred alongside stable Ammonia prices and a 6.22% rise in Methanol prices. The decline in Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) prices was driven by reduced demand from downstream sectors and a lack of supplier bids for inventory build-up. Adverse weather conditions, including severe windstorms and floods, disrupted agricultural operations, leading to reduced fertilizer demand and exacerbating the decline. Demand for Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) from the agrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors remains low. Although purchasing activity saw its slowest rate of decline since September 2022, it still outpaced the decrease in output levels. The European Central Bank is expected to lower key interest rates by 25 basis points at its June 2024 meeting, reducing the main refinancing operations rate to 4.25%, the deposit facility rate to 3.75%, and the marginal lending rate to 4.5%, according to the Federal Statistical Office.
According to ChemAnalyst, the price of Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) is expected to show positive momentum in the upcoming sessions in the Asian market. This expected rise is mainly attributed to the recovering demand from both domestic and international markets. Additionally, active accumulation by suppliers will be a key factor driving Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) prices upward. Conversely, a stable to bearish trend is expected in the European market. The underperformance in the downstream market will likely result in lower demand for Alkyl Amine (Dimethyl Amine) in the near future, keeping prices in check.
