Advanced Hydrocarbon Fuels Limited (AHFL) has identified the United Kingdom as the inaugural location for its pioneering commercial-scale plant, showcasing a groundbreaking process that transforms waste plastic into fuel.

AHFL's revolutionary method stands out as the first of its kind that operates without the need for a catalyst or incineration, providing a solution to the longstanding environmental, practical, and commercial challenges associated with pyrolysis—the conventional plastic breakdown process.

This technological breakthrough enables AHFL's plant to function continuously, actively addressing plastic waste concerns while simultaneously producing an alternative fuel in an environmentally friendly and commercially sustainable manner. A distinctive feature of this process is its profitability, with a projected capital payback period as short as 18 months from the commencement of production. This sets AHFL apart from numerous previous attempts to derive fuel from waste plastic.

Leading engineering firm Wood PLC conducted a comprehensive evaluation of AHFL's technology through extensive testing at the company's prototype plant in the Southern United States. The outcome was a detailed and affirmative report confirming the Proof of Concept.

Brian Ablett, a Canadian inventor and businessperson, is the founder of AHFL. The company's origins trace back to a prior product co-invented by Ablett in response to the Exxon Valdez and Deepwater Horizon oil spill disasters. This earlier invention efficiently contained and removed oil from various surfaces. Subsequently, Ablett encountered an American company engaged in developing technology for producing soil enhancers from organic materials. Through experimentation, Ablett persuaded the company to redirect its focus toward addressing the global challenge of waste plastic, one of the most prevalent and problematic energy sources.

AHFL's process has been meticulously crafted to comply with the most stringent environmental, health, and safety regulations, including those in the UK. A regulatory-compliant plant in the UK would serve as a model for AHFL to replicate similar compliant plants worldwide.

Currently, AHFL is actively seeking funding to establish its first full-scale commercial demonstration line in the UK, followed by the installation of additional lines that would eventually lead to the development of multi-line plants globally. An investment of £10 million would enable AHFL to construct the initial commercial line, refine its cooling and scrubbing systems, secure plastic sources from post-industrial and/or post-consumer partners, undergo 1,000 continuous hours of testing, obtain RSB certification, and rapidly launch commercial production. The company's strategic vision aligns with creating a sustainable and scalable solution to the global plastic waste crisis.
