Agilyx ASA (OSE: AGLX; OTCQX: AGXXF) (“Agilyx” or “the company”), a technology firm specializing in recycling complex post-use plastics into high-value, virgin-equivalent products, is pleased to announce the successful demonstration of its depolymerization technology during the commissioning of Toyo Styrene’s 10-ton-per-day chemical recycling facility in Japan.

The recycling plant will utilize Agilyx's depolymerization technology to convert post-use polystyrene into styrene monomer. This styrene monomer will then be transformed back into high-value polystyrene products, which have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to those made with virgin monomer.

The facility's construction concluded in March 2024, initiating the commissioning process. Last week marked the successful depolymerization of polystyrene and its conversion into on-specification product during commissioning. The Toyo Styrene plant represents the cutting-edge advancements in Agilyx's technology.

"The accomplishment of producing on-spec product during the commissioning phase at Toyo’s facility marks a significant milestone," commented Russ Main, interim CEO of Agilyx. "This success underscores the effectiveness of Agilyx’s technology and moves us closer to the completion of the inaugural polystyrene chemical recycling facility in Japan."

Agilyx and Toyo will collaborate further to enhance and optimize the facility in the coming months.

Agilyx ASA is a technology enterprise that empowers customers to recycle challenging post-use plastics into high-value, virgin-equivalent products. With a focus on diverting and converting plastic waste, Agilyx stands out with its chemical recycling technology offering. It also provides an integrated feedstock solution through Cyclyx, a pioneering feedstock management consortium comprising partners dedicated to boosting global plastic recycling rates. Cyclyx achieves this by chemically profiling plastic waste and aligning it with suitable recycling processes. Agilyx made history by establishing the first commercial-scale waste polystyrene chemical recycling facility via pyrolysis, facilitating closed-loop polystyrene plastic-to-plastic recycling. The company holds 20 patents in this field. Agilyx's conversion technology utilizes pyrolysis without a catalyst, capable of transforming mixed waste plastic into naphtha and fuels. It can also depolymerize specific plastics like polystyrene and PMMA (acrylic) back into products of virgin quality.

Agilyx is a leading chemical recycling technology company that employs pyrolysis to transform various types of waste plastic back into their fundamental components for reutilization. Offering an all-encompassing solution for plastic recycling, Agilyx combines its cutting-edge chemical recycling technology with expertise in feedstock processing, effectively turning the worldwide issue of plastic waste into a valuable resource. Through its licensing model, Agilyx assists customers in achieving global plastic circularity. Addressing one of the most significant obstacles to recycling today, which is dependable access to high-quality feedstock, Agilyx established Cyclyx to tackle this challenge head-on.
