Acrylamide prices in India have witnessed continuous surge since late-December due to bullish market sentiments. Growing awareness over water management and increasing stress by the governing bodies has made water treatment a potential growth segment for Acrylamide market in India.
With India aiming to attain self-sufficiency, number of chemical plants have drastically increased in 2021. Existing companies have either announced plans or have already indulged in new ventures for sustainability. The situation has led to a vivid increase in the total pollutants in the atmosphere. With alarming rise in the volume of waster water, there is an exponential rise in the chemical materials for water treatment as well. In line with the substantial demand for wastewater chemicals, Acrylamide prices have surged by nearly 25% since early-November. As per ChemAnalyst database, “Acrylamide pricing is expected to observe continuous surge as the demand for water treatment chemical is expected to remain robust in 2022 as well.”
Majority of Acrylamide produced worldwide is either utilized as a chemical intermediate as well as a monomer to produce Polyacrylamide. Polyacrylamide and Acrylamide both are consumed for portable water clarification and for municipal and industrial effluent treatment. These materials are also utilized as grouting agents in the development of reservoirs and wells for drinking water.
In the past 6 months, nearly 105 water treatment plants have been set up in Uttar Pradesh under government guidelines stressing to clean major public water resources and rivers. Along with the process of cleaning rivers and restricting sewage to pass into it, the government has been making continuous efforts to contribute to domestic sewerage connections in India.
