ACCIONA Energía has taken a significant step towards sustainable energy development by entering into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aruba's government-owned energy entities. This partnership is geared towards the creation of a green hydrogen valley on the island of Aruba.

In this collaborative effort, ACCIONA Energía is teaming up with Aruba's state-owned energy entities to initiate, construct, and operate a green hydrogen plant. This plant will be powered by renewable energy generated through a self-consumption renewable energy project. The produced electricity will serve as the driving force behind the production of green hydrogen. Notably, any surplus energy will be employed domestically on the island, thereby reducing the reliance on imported fossil fuels. The project's operational footprint will encompass land currently owned by the state-owned refinery, Refineria di Aruba N.V. Additionally, the necessary water supply will be provided by WEB Aruba, while energy distribution and transmission across the network will be managed by Elmar.

ACCIONA Energía will play a pivotal role in facilitating the establishment of a comprehensive renewable hydrogen ecosystem on Aruba. The collaboration will encompass the deployment of essential infrastructure to support this initiative. Furthermore, the exploration of supplementary applications for the green hydrogen, including potential export opportunities, will also be part of the agenda.

This groundbreaking project aligns with Aruba's overarching goal of achieving energy independence and transitioning away from conventional energy sources. The country is steadfast in its pursuit of renewable energy supremacy, aiming to position renewable sources as its primary energy contributors by 2050.

ACCIONA Energía, with its forward-thinking vision of a future powered by renewable sources, is a fitting partner for the Aruba government and its energy entities. The memorandum of understanding signifies the commencement of a collaborative journey towards establishing a robust renewable hydrogen ecosystem for the island. This endeavor is not solely focused on transforming local industries but also harbors ambitions of extending its positive impact to the wider Caribbean region.

In summary, ACCIONA Energía's MoU with the Aruba government and its energy entities signifies a momentous stride towards the realization of a green hydrogen valley. This collaborative initiative is primed to leverage renewable energy resources to power hydrogen production, consequently reducing the island's dependence on fossil fuels. As Aruba aspires to pivot towards renewable energy dominance, this partnership stands as a testament to their commitment to a sustainable and resilient energy future. ACCIONA Energía's expertise and forward-looking approach make them a valuable contributor to this transformative journey, with the potential to extend its influence far beyond Aruba's shores.
