GACL-NALCO Alkalies and Chemicals Private Limited (GNAL) to Start its 18 Billion Caustic Soda Plant by 2021.

GACL-NALCO Alkalies and Chemicals Private Limited (GNAL) which is a joint venture company of Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited, a company promoted by Government of Gujarat, and National Aluminium Company Limited NALCO, a Government of India Enterprise, is expected to start its Caustic Soda production by 2021. The capex for the project has been estimated at INR 18 Billion.The company has been planning to set up an 800 tonnes per day grassroot Caustic Soda plant in Dahej which will produce around 2.7 lakh tonnes of Caustic Soda per annum. ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions has been awarded the contract by GNAL, for its grassroots membrane cell Caustic Soda-Chlorine project. The equity holding of GACL and NALCO for the joint venture which was formed in December 2015 is in the ratio of 60:40. NALCO is also in the process of setting up a 0.5 MMTPA Alumina Refinery in Kutch district of Gujarat in joint venture with Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), a Govt of Gujarat Undertaking.
