Numaligarh Refinery, located in Golaghat district in Assam, recently announced the expansion of its refining capacity from 3 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes. The brown field project is anticipated to be completed by 2024, and is a highlight of Indian government initiative towards “Hydrocarbon Vision 2030” .Numaligarh Refinery, considering the positive outlook of performance, has awarded this INR 3000 Million project to Thyssenkrupp for providing construction, procurement, and engineering services for various units in the refinery.
The scope of supply from Thyssenkrupp comprises exclusive units for treatment of liquified petroleum gas (LPG), MS blocks with naphtha hydrotreating, gasoline desulphurisation unit, continuous isomerisation and catalytic reforming units and a new petrochemical fluidised catalytic cracking (PFCC) unit having annual capacity of two million metric tonne. In admiration of the received contract, the CEO and Managing Director of Thyssenkrupp stated that this project is another step for the company’s aspiration for becoming the leading construction and engineering business in India’s petrochemical sector.
