Thailand: Kuraray Co, based in Tokyo, has teamed up with PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) from Bangkok, Thailand and Sumitomo Corp., also based in Tokyo, to establish a manufacturing plant called Kuraray GC Advanced Materials Co. Ltd. and Kuraray Advanced Chemicals (Thailand) Limited. The plant aims to enhance and strengthen competitiveness in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) region. The inauguration ceremony was held at WHA Eastern Industrial Estate in Rayong province and was graced by the Deputy Governor of Rayong province.
A new manufacturing plant is set to bolster the government's goal of advancing the Eastern Economic Corridor development to foster industrial progress, an essential element for the nation's economic growth. Rayong province has already established a robust infrastructure that attracts investment, inspires confidence in the industry, and propels economic growth in Rayong province and the rest of Thailand. Equipped with advanced technology and environmentally sustainable practices, this project will not only open thrilling prospects for the local community but also raise living standards while propelling economic development in the country.
Kuraray GC Advanced Materials has announced the completion of their manufacturing plant construction, commencing commercial production. This success was achieved through the joint efforts of various government agencies, as well as trusted partners GC and Sumitomo. The manufacture of isoprene is projected to be a significant contributor to Kuraray GC's growth, with an emphasis on supplementing the global supply chain to meet increasing demand worldwide.

Kuraray GC Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. is a result of a joint investment by three companies, Kuraray Co., Ltd., GC, and Sumitomo Corporation. These companies bring in their cutting-edge technology and expertise to the table. Kuraray Co., Ltd. contributes the advanced technology for manufacturing Super Engineering Plastic Polyamide 9T (PA9T), marketed under the ‘GENESTAR’ brand, and Hydrogenated Styrenic Block Co-Polymer (HSBC), marketed under the ‘SEPTON’ brand. GC provides the essential raw materials and public utilities required for the project. Sumitomo Corporation, with its extensive global marketing network, aims to expand the market worldwide.
Kuraray GC Advanced Materials Co., Ltd, is situated at the WHA Eastern Industrial Estate in the Muang District, Rayong Province, which is in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) of Thailand. This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant has a PA9T production capacity of 13,000 tons per year, and HSBC production capacity of 16,000 tons per year. Its commercial operations commenced in February 2023, and the plant has since provided employment opportunities and created a source of revenue for the local community of Rayong Province. Over 60% of the current workforce hail from the nearby community.
