In collaboration with VTTI, a global energy storage leader and infrastructure developer, Neste has extended its capacity to provide sustainable aviation fuel to European customers. Neste has initiated terminal capacity at VTTI’s ETT terminal in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, specifically for the storage and blending of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™.

This marks a notable advancement in broadening the accessibility of Neste's sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to customers throughout Europe. It aligns with Neste's continuous efforts to expand its global SAF production and supply capabilities. The increase in SAF production at Neste's renewables refinery in Singapore and the nearing completion of modifications to its Rotterdam renewables refinery to enable SAF production are part of this ongoing expansion initiative.

Situated within one of Europe's largest fuel logistics hubs, the terminal has access to extensive European fuel infrastructure, including the Central European Pipeline System (CEPS). This connectivity will facilitate a more sustainable and streamlined fuel supply to customers and airports throughout Europe.

" Neste is profoundly committed to supporting the aviation industry in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, with sustainable aviation fuel playing a crucial role in realizing this objective. This expansion of our supply capabilities empowers our customers to accelerate the adoption of SAF across European airports and establishes a robust groundwork for meeting the requirements of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, which mandates the provision of a minimum share of SAF to European airports starting in 2025. It also demonstrates our collaborative efforts with partners such as VTTI to repurpose existing fuel distribution infrastructure for more sustainable alternatives like SAF," explains Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation Business at Neste.

"We're thrilled to witness the increasing demand for sustainable fuels. It's gratifying for us to contribute to Neste's value chain, allowing them to extend their reach to a broader customer base across Europe. Our goal by 2028 is to have half of our business centered on transitional and sustainable energies. Collaborating with partners like Neste, who share our commitment to the energy transition, brings us closer to realizing a more sustainable future," remarks Jaap Koomen, Senior Vice President of VTTI Netherlands Terminals.

Neste is actively engaged in devising solutions to combat climate change and facilitate the shift towards a circular economy. Through the refining of waste, residues, and pioneering raw materials, the company produces renewable fuels and sustainable feedstock for plastics and various materials. Neste, a leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel worldwide, pioneers the development of renewable and circular feedstock solutions for polymers and chemicals. By leveraging these innovations, Neste assists its customers in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 million tons annually by 2030.
